Showing off your hidden talents could impress when you’re trying to catch the eye of that special someone.
But viewers were less than impressed by one Blind Date contestant’s singing on the Channel 5 show on Saturday night.
Luke, from Nottingham, burst into a rendition of Peter Andre’s Mysterious Girl during the programme – even encouraging the audience to join in.
However, social media users were quick to slate his performance – describing it as ‘awful’.
Luke, from Nottingham, failed to impress viewers with his rendition of Peter Andre’s hit Mysterious Girl
On the show, Luke explained how he had recently moved back from Tenerife, where he’d been living for five years.
He told host Paul Grady: ‘I’ve been a bit of a performer, a bit of a singer, a bit of a dancer.’
The contestant then proceeded to show off his singing skills, asking the audience to give him a cheer and to clap along.
As he got to the chorus, he pointed towards the audience, getting them to sing along with him.
Social media users said that they were ‘cringing’ while listening to the contestant sing
Despite his enthusiasm, viewers certainly weren’t won over by his performance.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: ‘#blinddate has been on 2 mins and I’m already cringing… at that fella singing just then’.
Another added: ‘Some people are way too confident when they are talentless’.
Meanwhile, one simply commented: ‘He needs to sit down’.

The first series of the Channel 5 reboot of Blind Date aired in July, following a 14-year hiatus.
The revived show sees Paul O’Grady stepping into the shoes of original host Cilla Black, who died at her home in Spain in 2015.
Mel Sykes meanwhile has taken on the voiceover role made famous by Graham Skidmore – or ‘Our Graham’ as he was more affectionately referred to by Cilla and viewers.
The original programme aired from 1985 until 2003, with 18 series in total.
